As acoustic notes riddled the air, it was as if the audience was hearing the innermost thoughts of the performers. Each instrumental song was a symphonic soliloquy.
The duo of songwriter-guitarists that evening was Tyler Ramsey and Carl Broemel, who delivered emotive, stripped-back material tinged with flowering Appalachian folk. Most songs were without lyrics, including their cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Going to California.” But when they did sing, they called to mind the dulcet harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel.
